GRAVITAS Trial Shows That a Uniform Treatment Strategy of Doubling the Standard Dose of Plavix Does Not Improve Outcomes Post-PCI
November 16, 2010, San Diego, CA – Accumetrics, Inc., developer and marketer of the VerifyNow® System, today announced that the GRAVITAS (Gauging Responsiveness With A VerifyNow Assay-Impact On Thrombosis And Safety) Trial found that in patients with high residual platelet reactivity, doubling the maintenance dose of clopidogrel did not reduce the risk of further ischemic events after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The study also reported that patients with high residual platelet reactivity, as measured by the VerifyNow P2Y12 Test, demonstrated almost twice the risk of ischemic events compared to patients without high residual platelet reactivity. The VerifyNow P2Y12 Test is used to measure the antiplatelet effect of medications such as clopidogrel or prasugrel (Plavix® and Effient ®)that reduce platelet reactivity by blocking the platelet P2Y12 receptor. Accumetrics Increases Capital Raise, Completes Final Close in $24 Million Capital Financing
September 1, 2010, San Diego, CA — Accumetrics, Inc., a privately-held developer and marketer of the VerifyNow® System, the first rapid and easy-to-use point-of-care system for measuring platelet reactivity to multiple antiplatelet agents, announced today that it has completed its capital financing efforts, the first round of which was announced in the Fall of 2009. The Company raised an additional $7 million in this round and secured a total of $24 million in new capital. The capital infusion is expected to fund the company to profitability and comes primarily from the company’s existing investors, including Arnerich Massena, BBT Fund/Apothecary Capital, Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Rivervest and Kaiser Permanente. Inadequate Response to Clopidogrel Leads to Higher Incidence of Major Adverse Cardiac Events in Patients Who have Undergone PCI
March 15, 2010, San Diego, CA — Accumetrics, Inc., a privately-held developer and marketer of the VerifyNow® System, the first rapid and easy-to-use point-of-care system for measuring platelet reactivity to multiple antiplatelet agents, announced the presentation of a 2,000 patient meta-analysis examining patient response to antiplatelet therapy after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
