Aspirin

Aspirin is used by millions of people suffering from one or more types of cardiovascular disease.

In the United States alone, approximately 50 million people are on chronic aspirin therapy.1 Research shows that the risk of death is reduced by up to 23 percent if aspirin is administered when a heart attack is suspected and continued for 30 days thereafter.2

However, published studies indicate that patients vary widely in their response to aspirin, with up to 30 percent of patients showing less than the expected level of platelet inhibition while on aspirin therapy.3 Clinical literature suggests that patients who do not respond adequately to aspirin may be at greater risk of heart attack, stroke, and other vascular events.3

Within 10  minutes, the VerifyNow® Aspirin Test can help physicians determine the antiplatelet effect of their patients’ aspirin therapy.
