2011 ACCF/AHA Guidelines Incorporate New Recommendation for the Utilization
of Platelet Reactivity Testing:
Platelet Function Testing May be Used to Aid
Patient Management

The American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association have incorporated platelet reactivity testing in the 2011 ACCF/AHA Focused Update to the Guidelines for the Management of Patients with Unstable Angina/Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

Class IIb (B) Recommendation:

Platelet function testing to determine platelet inhibitory response in patients with UA/NSTEMI (or, after ACS and PCI)
on thienopyridine therapy may be considered if results of testing may alter management.
